VSA is currently seeking to appoint a Marketing Executive to join our Business Development, Marketing and Innovation Team.

As part of the Business Development, Marketing and Innovation Directorate, the Marketing Executive plays a key role in helping us raise awareness, engage supporters, and promote the impact of our work across digital, community, and corporate platforms. You’ll be joining a passionate and collaborative team focused on delivering creative campaigns that connect with our audiences and support our income generation goals.

Salary: £13.71 per hour or £24,944.17 p.a.

Hours: 35 hours per week - Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m - It is expected that work outside these hours will sometimes be required due to the nature of the role. TOIL will be offered for hours worked at weekends or in other exceptional circumstances as agreed in advance by the Director of BDMI.

Location: Aberdeen, based at VSA HQ (Castle Street)


Purpose of Role:

To support the Business Development, Marketing & Innovation Team by developing and implementing marketing strategies that enhance VSA’s visibility, engage the community, and drive fundraising efforts. This role involves working closely with various team members to ensure cohesive and effective marketing campaigns.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement marketing strategies to support VSA’s fundraising and community engagement goals.
  • Collaborate with the Business Development Manager, Community Fundraising Officer, Creative and Digital Marketing Officer, and Trusts and Foundations Officer to create and execute integrated marketing campaigns.
  • Manage VSA’s social media channels, website content, and email marketing campaigns to ensure consistent and engaging communication.
  • Assist in the creation of marketing materials, including brochures, flyers, and digital content.
  • Conduct market research to identify trends and opportunities for promoting VSA’s services and events.
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of marketing campaigns, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
  • Support the planning and execution of events, ensuring effective promotion and communication.
  • Maintain and update the marketing database, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.

Qualifications/Training/Education:

Essential:

  • Proven experience in marketing, preferably within the not-for-profit sector.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing, including social media, email marketing, and content creation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Desirable:

  • Educated to degree level in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).

Experience:

Essential:

  • Either Marketing specific degree experience or proven experience in a marketing role.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement successful marketing campaigns.
  • Experience in managing social media channels and creating engaging content.

Desirable:

  • Experience in event planning and promotion.
  • Familiarity with the not-for-profit sector and fundraising.

Key Skills/Aptitudes:

Essential:

  • Strong organisational and project management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in using marketing tools and platforms (e.g., Hootsuite, Mailchimp).

  • Experience with video production and editing.
